On average, people lose about a pint of perspiration every night. As wool can take on moisture up to 30% of its own weight (compared to 1 up to 2% for synthetic fibres), you will be comfortable as you sleep, even with a heavier perspiration. During the day the moisture absorbed by the wool at night, evaporates into the outer air, leaving the wool bedding fresh and dry for the next night's sleep. If this does not happen, as in the case of synthetics, polyester or down-filled material, the bed linens remain clammy, which is far from beneficial for a good night's sleep. This is the main reason people who suffer from rheumatism or arthritis (for whom moisture is an enemy), feel so good about organic mattresses, pillowtops and comforters filled with pure wool.
What's a sleep system without comfort? A mattress can be made from the best natural materials in the world, but if it's not comfortable, then you're not going to get a good night's sleep. Obviously, experienced craftsmen play a vital role in producing high-quality construction, but you still need to layer the proper materials to create an organic bed for comfort. Natural rubber is superior as the most durable cushioning component available today. It provides exceptional contouring using "dynamic" recovery (unlike plastic-derived memory foam which HOLDS your body impression for some time, often making the bed feel lumpy). There are no springs to counteract resistance, allowing your pressure point areas more cushion where it's needed. At the same time, the high density of natural rubber provides excellent support and proper spinal alignment for the other areas that don't need the "push and cush" benefits. Because it responds to one's individual body, it's perfect for almost anyone! If you share your bed with a partner, a natural rubber mattress offers less "transfer of motion"... meaning you won't feel him or her moving around so much. And that's more sleep for you. Rubber supports you in cushioned comfort for the best rest.
