What the certificates and logos mean...
CERTIFIED SAFE. When we develop and manufacture our line of CozyPure® organic mattresses and bedding, we hold a high criteria for organic fibers and eco-smart materials. But we also believe that just because something is "organic", it's no excuse for creating a product that does not offer quality or provides little comfort. Our mission is to design and manufacture an organic mattress that exceeds your wildest dreams and is held to the highest standards... to incorporate environmentally-friendly fabrics, materials and manufacturing procedures - alongside superior quality and exquisite comfort. We are proud to display the following logo certificates, memberships and recommendations which are affiliated with the CozyPure® organic mattress and bedding collection. For information about each logo, scroll down the page to read more.
"We've been in the organic comfort business since its inception, so we know what works best and the standards involved to meet the criteria of calling something organic.", says Cheryl Hahn, President and Founder of the Organic Comfort Zone. "The green movement is becoming increasingly popular and many businesses are jumping on the bandwagon, making products with very minimal organic content, yet they still call it an organic product. In addition, there are now many low-quality raw materials being offered as organic, and some manufacturers choose that option to reduce costs. The consumer really has to be careful because of the huge amount of misleading information in the marketplace today."
The euroLATEX ECO-Standard for latex foam cores has been developed by the European Latex Foam Manufacturers association in close co-operation with one of Europe’s leading and most reputable scientific institutes, i.e. TFI (Deutsches Teppich-Forschungs Institut in Aachen, Germany). The ECO-Standard defines the maximum acceptable limits of substances considered harmful to health that could occur in latex foam cores. This is based upon scientific data and stringent limits from other standards. The substances that are tested for include: Heavy Metals, Nitrosamines, Pesticides, Solvents, VOCs - Volatile Organic Components. CozyPure® natural latex components have achieved the euroLatex ECO-Standard certification for our organic mattress collection.
The "LGA Tested" certificate confirms that a product was tested according to selected criteria (performance characteristics, safety characteristics, statutory requirements and other individual requirements) and also meets the currently accepted technical standards. Manufacturers who wish to obtain the product certificate "LGA tested" must have their product(s) assessed within the scope of a type test, according to the above-mentioned criteria. Annual factory and product inspections must carried out to maintain the validity of the certificate. An LGA-tested certificate assures the consumer that both high-quality and safety standards have been acquired for the product. CozyPure® natural latex components have been awarded the LGA-Tested certificate for our organic mattress collection.
The Oeko-Tex 100 Standard comprehensively addresses the Human Ecology component of textile products. It evaluates and screens for any harmful substances present within processed textiles intended to come into contact with consumers. A manufacturer whose product meets the requirements set by the standard is licensed to use the registered mark or label "Tested for Harmful Substances according to Oeko-Tex Standard 100" on his product. CozyPure® natural latex components carry the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certification for our organic mattresses.
Skal surveys the organic production by means of inspection and certification. Inspections consist of visits to farms, processing and importing units, but also examination of soil, crop or tissue samples and administrative assessments. When the production process fully meets the requirements, certification can take place. In that case Skal issues a certificate as document of support. In most cases the producer is also allowed by Skal to use the EKO Quality symbol on the products that originate from the production process certified by Skal. The consumer knows and recognises this symbol of certified organic production. CozyPure® organic mattresses utilizes skal-certified organic cotton ticking in our organic mattress collection.
Under the Organic Certification Program, TDA inspects and certifies organic farms as well as processors, distributors and retailers of organic food and fiber. To be certified, all must comply with organic growing and handling standards established by the USDA National Organic Program (NOP). In exchange for this compliance, participants may use a marketing logo identifying their products as certified organic. The department also helps certified businesses market their products by promoting Texas-certified organic food and fiber. CozyPure® organic bedding accessories sources organic cotton certified through the Texas Dept of Agriculture.

We obtain our wool from pioneer eco-wool sheep rancher Joe Pozzi, who manages the original PureGrow Wool program out of Sonoma County, California. Pozzi wool is organically-managed then scoured clean without Acid Washing or other toxic chemicals, using only safe biodegradable soaps, and certified by the Federal Department of Bedding & Upholstery. Amaizing Wool is created by utilizing Pozzi Wool bonded with a small amount of plant starch fibers (mostly corn) to create a lofty batting that's soft, airy and eco-smart. Our exclusive Amaizing Wool is naturally resistant to open-flame, dust mites, molds and mildews. Temperature regulating and breathable, our Amaizing Wool is perfect for organic mattresses and organic bedding.
Virginia Green is a state-run program under the Commonwealth of Virginia to recognize and encourage businesses to incorporate environmentally-freindly practices. Designed primarly for the tourist trade such as hotels and restaurants, it is also open to businesses that compliment and/or enhance the program's mission and goals. Meeting the criteria, the Organic Comfort Zone is a partner member with Virginia Green. In addition, we are setup to efficiently provide CozyPure® organic mattresses and bedding to "green lodging" facilities across the state, allowing tourists to fully enjoy a "green room" experience.
Cheryl Hahn has been involved with textiles since 1981, and has been working exclusively with organic fibers and ecosmart materials for almost twenty years. As a pioneer in the organic textile industry, her expertise in choosing, developing and creating organic comfort products for the home must be validated authentic (in both safety and quality) before production begins on any finished goods. The CHAHN APPROVED label carries the assurance that all research and verification for eco-smart standards with high quality attributes have been confirmed before the product is available to the general public.
This logo was designed to represent the experience Cheryl Hahn brings to the CozyPure® organic mattress and bedding collection. In collaboration with the many strategic partnerships and affiliations she has formed throughout the years with some of the largest, most respected industry-leaders, CozyPure® organic mattresses and bedding products are able to meet or exceed our eco-organic criteria, while also providing durability, quality and comfort.
Our CozyPure® organic mattress and bedding collection is made in Norfolk, Virginia, USA. We opt first to source our materials domestically, however there are times when this is impossible (example: natural latex comes from rubber tree plantations from other countries). In addition, if we find organic fabric that is milled in Germany to be of a higher quality, our selection is based on the criteria to produce the best product for our customers. We stock all raw materials on-site and manufacture the finished goods right here in Virginia-USA. Our organic matresses are made-to-order and ship within five days. Our organic bedding accessories usually ship within one to seven days, depending on availability of the item and our production schedule.
What is "Green Guard Certified"?
Green Guard Certified is a program that charges a fee to evaluate VOC's of a products indoor air quality. Most manufacturers or products achieving this certification are toxic fume-based such as paints and finishes, synthetic plastics and/or fabrications, cleaners, adhesives/sealants, etc. In fact, we make sure any paints and sealants used in our facility are Green Guard Certified since these types of products can emit toxic fumes.
Since the components we use in all our mattresses, bedding and clothing already have third-party certifications on VOC safety, it goes without saying that our finished product(s) would easily pass Green Guard. In fact, most conventional mattresses would more than likely pass the Green Guard Certification process of low VOC emissions. At this time, we've made the decision not to incur additional marketing expenses of Green Guard Certification because we know that our products do not emit volatile air pollutants based on their original certifications and the manufacture of our products right here in the USA. Once Green Guard becomes a bedding and mattress industry standard certification process, then we will definitely re-evaluate this certification standard as legitimate for our industry.
